I don't advertise. Ever. So, no, I wouldn't. If I may quote Bill Hicks:
"You do an advertisment, you're off the artistic roll call for LIFE."

If you had the opportunity , would you use product placement in your movie ? I would ! product placement is payin for my film ! Nike , sega , audi, sony, fuckin...panda pops, its all gonna be in there ! Hell, my characters would take a break from a character developing monolouge to sip a tall frosty glass of pepsi ! PRODUCT PLACEMENT, YEAH !!!!
Sorry. Its just that im gonna get some sweet lovin in a few hours , and im just really excited thats all.

Chance,
Please post publicly, on this forum, whatever evidence you have of me partaking in paid corporate sponsorship. I clearly don't remember doing it, and if I've lied to the good folks here then I feel that it is your duty to publicly expose me for that fraud that I must be.

Am I a sell out?

Here's the thing though. If you want to advertise or have paid product placement, that's fine. I have no problem with that. For me it's a personal thing. If character X is driving car Y then that's just because that's what car was available to us. I don't know about the US, but in the UK it's generally ok to use something for it's intended purpose without permission. But it's a fine line, don't show Ford cars bursting into flames for no reason, that kind of thing.
HOWEVER, if you do go the "Pay and Display" route to get money for your film, you need to be aware that crazy people, like me, will find everything that you do after that a bit suspect.
To complete the Bill Hicks quote that I posted above:
"If you're a struggling actor and you need the money, then that's ok. But not if you earn three million dollars a year!"

"Hmmmm...after a hard days ranting about how elite power controls the world, I like to relax with some 'Orange Drink.'" Hicks
Pestic--
I am not an lawyer.
However, I am under the impression that in the US you can use any mainstream product in a film, song or any form of entertainment as long as you don't somehow show the product or its manufacturer in a bad light.
If a guy kills someone and blames it on the beer that would be bad. If the guy is talking about his wife and is drinking a beer that is OK.
These are the rules I have used throughout my career.
I am not a Lawyer.
Good Luck
Oh,Oh,Oh-
As much as I dislike to admit this-
Product endorsement is like the golden GOOSE in the US!If I knew I could get some funding: bring on the pepsi,Coke,Budweiser,I don't give a flip-
Character's are character's so what if they drink a pepsi in a scene- does that really damage the artist integridty? I don't think so..

But there is a dark side to this- If you don't have company approval, consent, or deal- Hello Lawsuit...... and I must admit it looks so tacky in movies when Director's use the Generic white label w/ the word Beer on it- God that's horrible-
Or when they purposely fuzz out a logo!

Chance -that's a trip..
